Holy Happy New Year Batman!

This year is starting out well, mostly because I had a pretty amazing (and amazingly busy) December. I sold a story and started a new job! After that, presents were just gravy! I'm a Scriptwriter/Production Assistant now for a pretty fun company. What's funny is that it's actually helping me learn about my writing habits. So first a confession:

2010 was the year of lazy writing. I'm serious. I was bad, bad girl this year. Sure I helped finish a co-writing project that had been in the works for at least 2 years, but it really sucked all the writer life out of me. I felt like I couldn't work on my own projects as long as it swung over my head.

But that was 2010, this is 2011!

What work has taught me is that I can write about anything and under strict deadline. No hemming and hawing, no "waiting for inspiration", none of that crap and it is just that, crap. Also with the new job I'm basically working 12 hours a day. It's an hour commute both ways and I work from 8-6 so I'm about to fill up on audio books. (So far Andrew Bird has been keeping me company on those drives because his music makes me the most mellow driver in the universe)

So I'm on board with joknowles with declaring this The Year of Being A Writer.

Fire up the coffee pot! It's going to be a busy year.
